From November 6 to 8, 2024, the World Architecture Festival (WAF) took place at Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre in Singapore. Designed by Zhu Peidong, co-founder and principal architect of line+, the "Woven Passage to Cloudy Peaks" was shortlisted in the Transport - Completed Buildings category at WAF2024, competing alongside renowned international firms such as Zaha Hadid Architects, KPF, and Daniel Statham Studio. Following intense on-site presentations and evaluations, the project stood out and received the prestigious Highly Commended award.

The 2024 WAF featured 395 shortlisted projects undergoing live evaluations, culminating in 69 award-winning entries. Among these, only five were from Chinese architectural firms. As one of the five winners, line+ showcased the innovative strength of Chinese design on this globally renowned stage.

Located in Xiayanbei Village, Xinchang, Zhejiang, the "Woven Passage to Cloudy Peaks" serves as both the gateway to a rural scenic area and essential infrastructure for ecological restoration. Within the context of rural development in China, line+ approaches such projects with a vision that is both rooted in tradition and forward-looking. By respecting local heritage while integrating modern techniques, the project breathes new life and imagination into the countryside.

The panel of judges highly commended the project's profound exploration and innovative contributions in ecology, public engagement, and technical execution. They praised its unique cultural identity and the elegant, ingenious structural design. The review process also drew significant attention from architects, structural engineers, and other attendees, who gathered to observe and discuss the project.

The World Architecture Festival (WAF), established in 2008, is one of the largest and most prestigious events in the global architecture community. Hosted annually in different cities, it brings together architects and designers from around the world. Combining awards, conferences, and the exchange of architectural knowledge, WAF celebrates and promotes excellence in design.


With the theme "Tomorrow," WAF 2024 focused on the future of the architecture industry amid trends such as population migration, urban growth, digital technology, artificial intelligence, immersive environments, and cultural shifts. Architects, interior designers, and landscape architects from across the globe gathered to explore cutting-edge developments and industry directions. Renowned firms such as BIG, Foster+Partners, AECOM, EAA, and MVRDV participated in discussions and knowledge sharing.


Invited to this distinguished event, line+ engaged in a global dialogue, presenting its work and perspectives. Moving forward, line+ will continue to explore the possibilities of architectural design, blending an international outlook with local practice.
